Ranunculaceae: an interesting and variable perennial to 1m. Found in dunes, dry grassland and rocky slopes. The flowers are yellowish, tinged purple, with dangling stamens, appearing from June-August. The leaves are pinnately divided. Widespread but not common. Native to most of Europe.
Said to have antiscrophulatic, diuretic, stomachic, and vulnerary properties.
Succeeds in most free draining soils in sun or semi-shade. These seeds are best sown in the Autumn, as 'they need a period of cold to aid germination'. Said to germinate readily, but fresh ripe seeds were sown late summer 2018 and did not germinate for me until April 2020.
