    Tragopogon capitatus

    [Ex. Kyrgyzstan, Chuu valley, 900m.]

    A biennial to 40-100 cm tall. Stem simple or branched from lower or middle third, smooth. Thin leaves. Flowers orange/brown with yellow centres, flowering from April-June. Native to the stony steppes, grassy slopes, base of mountains, ditches, roadsides; 500-2000 m. Xinjiang [Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan].

     

    GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

    Sow from March to June. Stab the seeds in fat end first, with the thin end pointing up. Keep pot warm at 15 to 20°C until germination, then move to somewhere cooler.
