Asteraceae: a tall, herbaceous perennial to 2m with broadly oval to heart-shaped, aromatic leaves. Branched sprays of shaggy, yellow, daisy-like flowers are produced in late summer and early autumn. Native to Central Europe, Russia, and the Balkans.
Rapidly germinating, keep seed in constant moisture (not wet) with temperatures of about +20°C [68°F]. Seeds must be covered thinly. Do not cover small seeds, but tightly press into the earth. Keep in cooler conditions after germination occurs. Prefers an average, well-drained soil in partial shade. Will tolerate full sun if kept consistently moist. Easy to care for. Taller plants may require support.
Great honey-bee food plant.
