Silene dioica 'Red Campion'

Caryophyllaceae: Clump-forming, semi evergreen relatively short-lived
dioecious perennial. The flowers are rose pink, March to November. Most often associated with lightly shaded
sites such as hedgerows, coppice, and woodland clearings. Native throughout
central, western, and northern Europe, and locally in southern Europe. It has
been introduced in Iceland, Canada, the US, and Argentina. An originally collected
local form.
Full sun to part shade. Preferring well drained and
moderately fertile soils. Easily grown from seed sown at any time of the year,
seeds need light to germ.
