Malvaceae: an annual to 1.5m in height. Small violet flowers. The seeds form round, flat capsules. Hairy rounded leaves with shallow lobes. Native to Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru.
This is rare Mexican annual leafy vegetable. The leaves were eaten in Mexico (boiled in stews)
Has been used as a remedy for coughs.
Surface sow seeds in spring, keep warm, seeds should germinate in a week or so. Plant out after the last frosts. Full sun and well-drained soil.
