    Begonia grandis f. alba CMBJP2143

    A hardy, tuberous, white flowered begonia to a height 40 cm, green leaves with attractive, red-purple tinged undersides. Pendulous, white flowers, July to September. The plant’s produce bulbils in the autumn, these fall to the ground to produce new plants. Originally collected by Cedric Basset and Marion Lennoz in the mountains of Honshu in Japan, at the foot of Mount Fuji.

    Full to part shade in a sheltered position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil with a winter mulch. Bulbils are sown as you would do with seeds, and these will freely germinate in late spring after a cold period.
