Allium wallichii CLD 1500

A variable, robust, clump-forming species to 70cm in height. Found from western China and the Himalayas. It has thick, flat, green leaves and large heads of star-shaped, purple flowers. Originally collected in Yunnan, China.

Grown as a vegetable in the Himalayas for its leaves and roots.

Moist, well-drained soil in full sun to part-shade. Cold germinator.
