'Russian Hollyhock'

Malvaceae: An upright evergreen biennial/perennial to 1.6m. Tall inflorescence with numerous golden yellow, saucer shaped flowers. Blooming from June - September. Grey-green, lobed leaves. Native to Ukraine and Southern Russia.

USES:

Honey-bee food plant. The recommended planting distance is 70cm, the perennials are best planted in groups of 3 to 5. Suited as bee pasture. The flower is also suitable for cutting.

GROWING INFORMATION:

These perennial seeds germinate very irregularly over a long period. Lower temperatures of less than +5°C [41°F] are very effective. Seed trays should not be discarded prematurely. Constant moisture must be maintained. Do not leave in direct sunlight.

The perennials prefer a sunny situation on moderately moist soil. The substrate should be sandy-loamy or gritty-loamy soil with a pH between 6,5 and 7,5. They tolerate temperatures down to -40°C.

Very good bee plant.
