Geraniaceae: a pretty spreading, branched, extremely hairy annual of dry, grassy places including roadside verges. The flowers are around 10mm across with notched pink petals, in pairs, blooming from April-August. The leaves are hairy, rounded, with the margins cut into lobes. Common and widespread, especially in the south. Native to Britain, Europe to the Himalayas.
The plant has anodyne, astringent and vulnerary properties.
Succeeds in any moderately fertile retentive soil in a sunny position. Sow seeds in spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Easy and self-seed freely.
